in thread Perl Builder 2.0

I tried a recent version of Komodo on a tired old Pentium 90. My advice -> get a fast box if you want this beast to run in real time - the performance was so bad you could simply not use it. This same box runs Perl Builder 2 no problem.

One note, scripts run in PB2 run about 100 times slower than from the command line. This is not an issue in most cases but can be for computationally intensive tasks. Easy enough to run stuff from the command prompt anyway, even while you are editing them in PB2.

cheers

I noticed that to. This machine is a P2 Celeron-333 Mhz, with 32MB RAM, and it was slower than molasses. The other downside I noticed is that you had to download their ActivePython as well, since the IDE was written in Python.

Hmm a PII 333 is no slouch, I wonder how fast a machine and how much memory you need to get it to hum? I guess it demonstrates the advantages of C/C++ for application development. Some of the text editors on the outside links are also slow as a wet week. cheers
