Mr.T has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello!

Does Perl have any popular conferences or gatherings like they have for Macworld, or PC Expo, etc.? If they do, where are they typically held? Or is it new every time?

Also, are there any good user groups for Perl that I should check out? I want to learn as much as I can before the new school year comes :). Thanks!

Jayce^ As for conferences, the oreilly TPC just ended, and was excellent. the YAPC coneferences are also great, and the wealthy can look into the PerlWhirl. As for user groups, Perl Monks are great.

You might check around larger cities within driving distance. There are many linux user groups that might be able to help you and more ways than you can imagine.
Barring LUG's, a USENIX, IEEE, or ACM (Computing machinery chapter) usually has some interesting fellows and typically can be found at any college/university with an engineering department.
