in thread I broke my system with cpan

Try debugging with this:

There is no point; don't debug definitive error messages

Encode object version 2.42_01 does not match bootstrap parameter 2.51

object version does not match bootstrap parameter -> Re: More on "IO object version does not match bootstrap parameter" error

?node_id=3989;BIT=object%20version%20does%20not%20match%20bootstrap%20parameter;re=N -> Re: Attempt to reload IO/Socket.pm aborted, Re: Does not match bootstrap parameter - MIME::Base64, Re: issue in DBD::Sybase use, Re: trouble installing Crypt::SSLeay,

Basically, reinstall whatever module you're installing and make sure the .so and .pm files get overwritten

Also, that program is one awfully Khen1950fx way to avoid

PERLDOCDEBUG=1 perldoc strict
or
perl -e ' @ENV{PERLDOCDEBUG}=1; system q{perldoc strict}; '
