But out of curiosity, what exactly is the approval system good for?

    If you vote for a node (be it + or -), you can see how others vote for the same node. If you are interested in the reputation of nodes you did not author nor vote for, you can get a vague image by turning the option to sort replies by reputation on.

      I wasn't talking about voting or reputation, but about the benefit of "approving" new nodes.

      Whatever, I think a "Quarantine" section to move the junk away from the list views till they are reaped is a useful idea. Though I don't think it will ever be implemented. :)
