"doesn't work"

Does anything happen? Does anything get displayed on screen? Are you using the system perl (perl which ships with OSX)? Do you have xcode/dev tools installed? Your post doesn't give much to work with, see How do I post a question effectively?.

Do you get -bash: /usr/bin/perldoc: Permission denied?

If so, please see ...trouble using the 'perldoc'...

So, it would not appear to be a generic Mac issue. If you follow-up with the information requested above, you'll probably get a better answer.
