I don't have a handy copy of Windows here, but I have to wonder why the documentation for Cwd contradicts your experience: The `getdcwd()` function is also provided on Win32 to get the current working directory on the specified drive, since Windows maintains a separate current working directory for each drive. If no drive is specified then the current drive is assumed. This function simply calls the Microsoft C library _getdcwd() function. Dave	[reply] [d/l]

`use strict; use warnings; use Cwd; my $dir=getcwd; say $dir;` [download] ...works as documented under 5.16 and W7. It's likely you erred somewhere in your code. Note the first two lines of the snippet above.
