spencoid has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

i need to find every entry in the windows registry that contains a particular text string and delete it. i am sure i can spend much more time than i want to, figuring out how tie registry works but would much prefer to find a code example that gets me close to what i need. any tutorial or examples? i have not been able to find anything after much web searching.

    G'day spencoid,

Are you familiar with CPAN? If not, take some time to find your way around that site.

Searching for registry produced some hits that looked like possibilities. One was Win32::Registry::File which might do what you want; another was flagged as obsolete but linked to these Win32::TieRegistry search results. The Win32::TieRegistry module seems well documented and has a lot of examples.

I don't use Windows (at least not in Perl context) so I can't say which of those might be best for your needs.
