how to profile a subroutine and its statements

ghosh123 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi
In my application, I have many sub routines across huge modules. How can I profile a sub routine or its statements in a module with out using any perl module like Devel::NYTProf. I know NYTProf.pm does sub routine and statement profiling. But due to unavailability of that in a perl version, I can not use NYTProf. I can download but still that is not a solution due to some constraints. Any other easy mechanism ?

You can use Devel::DProf, it is part of the standard Perl distribution. But if you have ever used Devel::NYTProf, you will be disapointed. لսႽ† ᥲᥒ⚪⟊Ⴙᘓᖇ Ꮅᘓᖇ⎱ Ⴙᥲ𝇋ƙᘓᖇ	[reply]

Perhaps you can profile your modules on a different version of perl, where you can use Devel::NYTProf?	[reply]
