I agree with most comments on both sides of your argument, but that is because different requirements demand different solutions. What you have to accept is that we are dealing with different personalities, different degrees of experience, etc, etc. Making a rule doesn't stop people from breaking it!
So enjoy PM and learn from the comments/knowledge of many monks and ignore the comments that don't fit your rule(s).
