That means there is live, still supported distro with that version of perl, and yes, with security updates for perl and other software.

You are programmer. But your code has users. You cannot suggest to your users to install perl with perlbrew, because you'll lose most of them then. Sure you can :) just give them a perl, http://www.citrusperl.com/helpweb/createdistribution.htm, or an executable If they want to install from source, fantastic, let them install something new, not something really really old	[reply]

1. Do you know any popular software in Perl/Python/Ruby which target audience are not software developers, and which requires latest version of interpreter or ships together with interpreter? 2. What about case when you are developing a CPAN module? How many popular modules do you know which require 5.18 at minimum?	[reply]
