I think a lot of the AM's are just like bladx says, they don't have the time or just won't get involved.

Have a look at the statistics.

Currently there are about 2040 users that NEVER logged in and about 5400 logged in ONCE with no writeups.
That makes about 70% inactive users.

With a rate of about 800 new users per month these figures will constantly increase.

No, I wouldn't encourage AM's to become regeistered.
If they want to be part of the comunity, they will become part of it.
If they just want answers, they will get answers as AM's as well as registered users.

    I tend to give a little bit of encouragement when replying to an AM post, and explain how it can help them -- they might not realise they get notified of replies (et al) or get to customise anything if they log in.
