drfrog has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi there

im about to start a personal project which
will require me to produce data in both 2d and 3d.
I want to create a pseudo-language
i can write content and/or design in and then
i can then translate from the HLAL to
html/xml and/or vrml/x3d
based on user preferences

i was wondering if anyone has any XP in designing HLAL's
or know of some good modules to use etc
or at least opinions on why to do it this way or not

back in the day we didnt have no old school

Have you looked at XML? You can model alot of different information with it, and you can leverage the work that has been done by many other smart people.
