Sorry, I didn't see the update but I am still able to push the MW to the background and continue using my computer =( I need a solution that disables all usage until the proper password is entered. Thank you!

Then we probably need more information about what you're *really* trying to do. IMO -- using a homebrew, tk gui to collect a password and thereby authorize further actions seems highly ill-advised; un-necessarily complex; and subject to numerous possible-exploits.
