three hand-shake

meanroc has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello,I want to criate a program that send just the ack packet (like NMAP)to a determinate machine. What library I should use to manipulate this kind of packets? TKS guys!

Why would behaving people do that - just send an ACK? Has there been a SYN? Are you going to wait for a SYNACK, are you going to be at least as rude as to send a FIN/RST? Will that be server or client code? or... something else? just some spoof for fun? What for? perl -le'print map{pack c,($-++?1:13)+ord}split//,ESEL'	[reply]

G'day meanroc, I'm wondering if perhaps you're looking for something like ping. If so, the core module Net::Ping may do what you want. -- Ken	[reply]
