A little history and the inspiration for this poem. In 2002 we used Perl to develop a poetry site. Wow! 12 years of stable site availability with very little downtime. In the past 12 years, this Perl based site has served over 100,000 poets – all possible because of the great work of the Perl programming community.

    Understand how this site works. Not just the mechanics, the culture.

    Don't complain about reputation (or its human analogue, XP).

    Don't post stuff that looks like spam. Don't post stuff that looks like you're begging. Don't post stuff that directs people to other sites.

    Post good stuff that people will like.

    I reckon we are the only monastery ever to have a dungeon stuffed with 16,000 zombies.

    Thanks are one thing, but the code should come with a WARNING that it sends an Email to PoetryPoem.com, which IMO makes the whole post look like spam...

    I read this as a challenge.

    Write your verse generator (Perl: the Markov Chainsaw)
    that prints a few lines
        and prompts the user
Submit this to PoeTryPoem.Com? (yes/no)

      You have a really good idea that could help writers suffering from writers block. Instead of just randomly generating a verse, the Perl script could parse the previously entered lines and assist the writer with their next line(s). Something like "eclipse code completion" for poets.
