Memory usage with Perl/MySQL

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Sorry about the open ended question. I am looking for advice/direction. I wrote some CGI scripts a while back in Perl. The scripts use DBI to access MySQL. I suspect that the scripts are rather badly written. The scripts work, but once in a while they take enough memory to crash MySQL.

I would like to be able to narrow down the areas in my scripts which cause the problems. I am trying to see if there are any tools/methods can I use to detect this.

What OS? (It's relevant): Sys::Statistics::Linux for linux. http://search.cpan.org/~doneill/Memory-Usage-0.201/lib/Memory/Usage.pm (OS not known, but how I found it is something you could and should have done for yourself.) MySQL has several ways to view query statuses. Look through the queries being run and see what optimizations need to be taken. Three thousand years of beautiful tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax, you're god damn right I'm living in the fucking past	[reply]
