MIME::Lite mentions some alternatives in the sentence following the "not recommended" one:

There are a number of alternatives, like Email::MIME or MIME::Entity and Email::Sender, which you should probably use instead.

Email::Sender does not take care of `Bcc:` header by itself. E::S::Manual::QuickStart via Email::Sender::Manual detour does list a way to deal with that.	[reply] [d/l]
