How to delete letters and special characters from a steering

What have you tried? Consider either `split`ting the string on `=` and just use the second element from the `split` or use a regex to capture all after the `=`. `s/steering/string/g` ?	[reply] [d/l] [select]

Does your data's format have a name? Maybe there's already a tool that correctly interprets it. Is your data always in the form of `identifier=number`? In such a case, split (possibly `(split /=/, $string, 2)[1]`) or `m/^[^=]+([\de.+-]+)$/` Is the number always in scientific notation? Specifics lead to better answers. Dave	[reply] [d/l] [select]

An alternative approach to eliminating everything you don't want from a string is to capture only what you do want: it's often easier to define what you want than what you don't.
