Some operating systems will respect Perl altering the job name through manipulation of the $0 variable (that's dollar-zero). E.g.
$0 = "SpeciallyNamedJob"; sleep 60;

or a one-liner: perl -e '$0="SpeciallyNamedJob"; sleep 60'

If you type: ps ax you'll see:

3545971 pts/13 S+ 0:00 SpeciallyNamedJob
