"Requirement is the expected behavior of the regex, like a spec, or what should be matched or should not."

Yes, that's what I understood it to mean.

By the way, it's fine to change your post but, if you do, please indicate what you've changed. Why, and how, to do that is explained in "How do I change/delete my post?".

"Not simple a request to ask for code."

Well, your post actually contains no request (or question) at all. If you're not asking for code, what are you asking for?

"Interesting experience for my first post, ..."

What did you find interesting? The greeting? The welcome? The polite request to "please read ..."? The links to site documentation to help you improve your post. The links to Perl documentation that were provided in an attempt to anticipate what might be helpful despite the fact that you hadn't indicated what help you needed?

"... not sure if anyone will try to help me now"

Of course someone will help you; I'd be happy to help you. But, before that happens, you need to help us to help you by stating what help you need.

I thought I'd been pretty clear on that point: "Without knowing what you're having trouble with, it's difficult to formulate a response which helps you.".

Wasn't asking for someone to write a solution for me, more like an idea, the logic of how to cover all the different situation.

Interesting means what you did really discouraged others to ask questions. And since you used word "code writing service", it discourage others to reply even more because no one would want to provide free code writing service. Even if that is not what I wanted.
