I just ran the code successfully on both Linux and Win98. Have you isolated/found your error?

Also, you may want to fix this regex:

$name =~ s/sr.jpg//;

to

$name =~ s/sr\.jpg//;

The . is a special character that will match anything, not just a period. So if you had a file named srZjpg, that will match successfully as well (which probably isn't what you want).
