What is supposed to happen when you check the boxes in chatterbox?

I took it to be some way to make sense of the confusing flow of messages in various thread, and assumed once checked, that box would disappear, allowing you to keep up with the responses you've read

After fiddling with it for a while... I really don't see what it does at all.

    In the Chatterbox nodelet (near the bottom) you'll find a "How do I use this?" link: this takes you to the Chatterbox FAQ.

    Here you'll find an answer to "What is that checkbox next to each private message in the Chatterbox nodelet?" (and dozens of other questions you may have).

    If you've received private messages, click the checkbox, then the "talk" button, and the message corresponding with that checkbox will be deleted.
