in thread cpanminus installing but not working

If you cd to '/home/IrishMonk/perl5/bin/' and then enter './cpanm' (no quotes) what happens? (might check that file to make sure permissions are workable too...just in case.)

Update: What I am getting at is what taint is talking about below. Your $PATH is not set up to recognize the location that cpanm landed in. Am willing to bet his solution will get you going...

...the majority is always wrong, and always the last to know about it...

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...

A solution is nothing more than a clearly stated problem...otherwise, the problem is not a problem, it is a facct

According to the cpanminus page. What IrishMonk should have done. Appears to have been:
cd ~/bin curl -LO http://xrl.us/cpanm chmod +x cpanm # edit shebang if you don't have /usr/bin/env
    If it were ME, I'd
rm -rf ~/Downloads/App-cpanminus-1.7004 rm -rf ~.cpan/build/App-cpanminus-1.7004-dOsLCQ/
and start over, as described in the POD for cpanminus.
I can't speak to the contents of
    /root/.cpanm/work/1401073698.24129/App-cpanminus-1.7004
as I have no idea IrishMonk's permissions/control on this box.

Thanks taint! I think this fixed my problem. Wow! It took me(and you guys) quite a bit of time but I'm finally finished chapter 2 of this book(wrox Beginning Perl).

      Thanks for the help everyone!

Agreed, a restart sounds like a good idea. Better yet, a sip of PerlBrew might work just as well(post-cleanup), but then running on a stick...well, size matters, and some pints hold more than others...
