Mjpaddy has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

HI MONKS

how did the alphanumeric will compare...

DATA

see "(1)-(2)" $1 and $2 if $1<$2 print 1<194>2 and second condition is if $1>$2 print <check>1<194>2</check> but in case of alphanumeric like 1a-2z its not applicable similarly in case of 1z-2a

I think u people got my point how it can be done..

I might have gotten some sense of the problem but I doubt. Could you try explaining again in complete sentences and/or readable pseudocode?

Sorry, but this is incomprehensible to me. Perhaps it has to do with lost formatting (take a look at the Markup in the Monastery node, you should be able to reformat your node as you want it and make it understandable to us).

If you look for string comparisons, then take a look at the le, gr, lt and gt operators.

You might have a better chance if you write the node in your native language. I bet there are others that speak it and if they are unable to answer they can at least provide a translation.
