Ok. I know it took a looong time, but..
I finally managed to set up a windows 8.1 virtual machine.
Installed perl, script crashes as before.
Installed dbg, got same results.
Started dependency walker... when i start profiling perl.exe it just hangs (not responding)...
I found this problem maybe mentioned here but that 2.6.8288 version doesn't seem to actually exist anywhere.
