My experience with OLE/AD his has atrophied from lack of use .. but I believe the accountExpires is a Win32::OLE::Variant type that could be accessed thus: 
    use Win32::OLE::Variant;

my $Exp_yymmdd = $value->Date("yyyy-MM-dd");

i.e call the "Date" method on the OLE object.
