Last night between roughly 10pm and 2am I was allocated my daily voting allotment twice (so 24 votes) and then sets of extra 2 votes at random intervals. In total I got over 30 votes, where I should've only had 12. These extra votes only appeared when I'd spent the votes I had just been allocated.

This morning I logged in and I've got *another 12*.... and thinking back, every day I spend my votes, then about an hour later I get another 12. I usually put this down to the time difference (I'm in the UK) and votes renewing at 12pm EST or whenever. Thinking carefully about this however, it actually means that I get double my quota every day...

This is easily reproducable and should probably be fixed...

    I don't get double my quota every day but I experienced to get 2 votes more sometimes. About 2 days ago I experienced that behaviour last time: I just had spend all my votes, visited some other sites, and when I came back to the monastery the nodlet showed "you have 2 votes left".

    Update Just at the moment my nodlet shows "7 votes". One minute before it was "4 votes". I did not have more than one window open, but I searched for "unicode" the second time today, and of course I got the same result page. I think I experienced that kind of behaviour before: Maybe it is evil to visit one page twice.

    Crazy! Just before i read this post, i was allocated an additional 20 votes. The only screwy thing that i was doing at the time was trying to turn off the CPAN nodelet via Raw User Settings, which i notice will cause the site to hang a bit while loading . . .

    UPDATE (3 mins later . . .)
    And then they went away. Well, i guess this solves the case of the phantom votes (/me turns up a flask and empties it).

    I'm not sure if this is the right answer, but when I'm browsing around at times I cast some votes then go back to a section I'd previously visited and the XP nodelet says I've still got all my votes. Usually this is do to the browser keeping a cached copy of the page in memory. I just hit refresh and then it'll show the correct vote number.

      yeah, I get this at work (where we use a web-proxy), but the problem I've described is occuring at home, and the difference is that (at home) I can spend the votes, so that if I spend four (say), I then have a vote allocation of four less... so I have definitely been allocated the votes.
