Wiggins has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Monks, this is not a 'seek' but a proposed 'find'.
A number of folks where I work, as well as myself, have had problems installing NET::PcapUtils. The problem is that the 'loop' test never passes (or even progresses).
My observation is that this happens when we were installing over WiFi. It installs fine over a wired connection. To generalize this, I propose that the 'loop' test is watching the lowest Ethernet (1st non-lo) interface, without checking to see if it is active, And the WiFi interfaces lists after the Ethernet interfaces. Whether this is a libpcap, or PcapUtil, function at fault is not obvious.

It is always better to have seen your target for yourself, rather than depend upon someone else's description.

Youch. The module has gone 15 years without a new release, and 7 years without a new bug report, and most testers are failing the module.

Is there anything else that plays in this space?
