in reply to Perl and Can Bus

Unfortuantely I have no idea how to handle constant data input.

What is the source of the data stream?

./receivetest a pcan linux driver script
./receivetest a pcan linux driver script

So that's an executable you have to run and it writes the data stream to stdout?

Yes, the stream comes through as stdout which I can redirect as input to the perl script.
