Why are some OS blank in CPAN Testers Matrix?

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I was intrigued by the creative spirit of the programmer of a new Perl app on CPAN called "sweat". I wanted to check out the speech-centric UI and hear it read randomly chosen threads of related Wikipedia articles, top news headlines, and offensive jokes from the fortune program. I wondered if it would run on macOS and clicked the "Testers" link on the metacpan page but the column for darwin is totally blank. The perldoc mentions Mac enough times that my faith was rewarded with a painless install of a very cool program that appears to function perfectly. But I still wonder why it does not appear to be tested on darwin. Does anyone know? Thanks

This is what it looks like to me as well. I have a distribution I haven't updated in two years (test results), and the last Darwin tests to be updated were in early 2018.	[reply]

Many of the automated 'smokers' are Linux/BSD based. You can do some configuration which prompts you to submit a report after each install. For details of testing and setting up an unattended smoker see http://cpanwiki.grango.org/. Perhaps there are fewer Mac users doing automated testing against cpan uploads.	[reply]

There are definitely at least two people doing test reports on Mac OS X. But yeah, the bulk of automated tests come from Linux and BSD. toby döt ink	[reply]
