My name's Fernando I have 56 yo. I discovered Perl in the '90s while I prepared my Doctoral Thesis (that I never finished) The Perl capacities to work with text documents was incredible and enables me to reach some goals (and a productivity level) I believed impossible for an inexperienced researcher in the opinion of my thesis director. At those times, human disciplines in my country were unlinked from the technical ones. Simply I was a curious student. Many years ago I had the opportunity to study while working and, this time, I choose an engineering degree (I was a science's boy while my High School years) Amazingly Perl was another time the master tool that granted me an unhoped capacity to improve my performance as a student and (afterward) as a professional. I used Perl to process huge amounts of text and afterward to make maths. Perl gave me ever a work capacity that my programming skills didn't deserve. I know how powerful Perl can be, even at the hands of a user that never studied it systematically and only knows an infinitesimal part of this amazing language. Thank you, Perl.
