I want to bind "Delete" key and 'ButtonPress-3" to delete the selected object. That is, I want to press 'Delete' and then click on an object in canvas to delete it. Any advise is greatly appreciated

Sounds good, go ahead and do that, bind "delete" key and "ButtonPress-3" to delete the selected object.
