boleary has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am using an Tk:HList as a pretty effective editor for some of my tools
A simple one I've built uses 4 columns with one widget in each column like :

label:[entry]:label:[entry] [entry]:label:button:[entry] label:[entry]:label:[entry]

One of the limitations I keep running into is that I need to keep the width of each column artificially small so that I can always see all 4 columns
I'd like to be able to add a row where an entry starts in column 1 and spans all 4 columns similar to what I can do with -columnspan=>2 in the grid geometry manager

label:[entry]:label:[entry] label:[entry]:lable:[entry] [ merged entry ] [ ]:[ ] =merged label=

Is there any trick/setting I might be missing to allow me to do this?

I've looked at the Hlist.pm module and from what I can see, most of the work is done behind the scenes in c-code in tixHList.c so I'm already out of the depth I want to swim in :)

Thanks for the info! I didn't know about grep.metacapan.org!
