I agree. Tax benefits should be restricted to parents.

I disagree. For instance the closed borders during the corona shutdown showed that such a certificate helped reuniting couples.

    Isn't think an argument in favour of levelling the playing field by not taking a marriage certificate or lack thereof into account in immigration decisions?

      No, and sorry I don't wanna discuss every single legal implication separately.

      And there are plenty more, that's why I said "etc".

      Marriage is such an old institution that you can't easily eliminate it from the legal processes which were built on top of it in the course of millenniums.

      Brexit is a cakewalk compared to that.
