Wow -- I must have missed that contretemps in the Monastery. He was an interesting, knowledgeable character.

I take laziness to mean that a developer should be so familiar with their tools that they can write something fairly simple to solve a complicated problem. So lazy is not idle, it's efficient.

"Lazyness" is for me a tongue in cheek way for "progress by automating boring steps". Like avoiding boilerplating by authoring a clever module which comes much cheaper in the long run. The point is that this investment in a module is quite expensive in the beginning. But after one climbed that mountain one reaches more fertile grounds. (which are feeding you for less work) Example? I wrote this Wikisyntax for the Monastery out of laziness° and it saved me tons of time in the meantime, but was expensive in the beginning.
