Sorry, but I don't think this is good advice. Even if it were necessary to run an external perl, which it practically never is except maybe in a test suite, qx has quite a few caveats.

      The answers are here to stay. Anyone else can google a similar question and find your answer valuable. You're never answering just the OP.

      With that in mind, many long winded threads wouldn't have been started.

        I think people will rather read a long winded dialog than a long post.
