I wasn't proposing a solution; I was contradicting the claim that «fc is the only acceptable solution for comparing "case insensitive strings".»

if its the same, there is only one way I'm not sure why you mention this since regex matches and comparisons using `fc` are very much not the same thing?! You even said as much yourself a few posts up ("//i doesn't help in our case since we needed hash-keys").
