The problem with codifying every detail is that offenders than tend to walk the line and force lengthy discussions and try to shout things like "police state" or worse.

That's why admins tend to leave the border area grey and leave it to a mix of

I agree; and I don't think the language in the OP goes to that level of precision; not even close. But we want to have something written down so that when we do have to take action, we have something we can refer to. And I feel that the three nodes I referenced are in fact far too vague and scattered to be usable.

I agree with you, this reply pertained to the whole sub-thread...

One can't codify everything, it's even impossible to anticipate everything.

Let's say we had a hypothetical rule saying that more than 5 insults per day are not acceptable, then someone would insist he only insulted 4.5 times per day and that "wanker" is a normal greeting in Greece.

It's a fine line for admin interventions too.

Me and several others left another board because a (technical) admin started to delete posts criticizing her random "interventions".

So starting this public thread is exactly the way to go...

try to shout things like "police state" or worse

Those who shout in a monastery only invite divine wrath upon their wretched souls.
