in thread I prefer my indexes to start at:
I have just noticed that my keyboard's horizontal row of numbers starts from 1.
Your keyboard probably has its keys staggerd in a way to have room for mechanical levers on a typewriter from two centuries ago. And letters are assigned to keys in a way to prevent mechanical lockups in typewiters of the same age , slowing down fast writers, instead of being optimized for writing speed (e.g. Dvorak leyout, almost a century old). With all of that legacy, consider yourself lucky to actually have keys for 0 and 1 instead of having to use O, I, or l.
(And yes, my keyboard is also a boring staggered and slow QWERTZ keyboard.)
