Because Perl programmers are not as confidently assertive and obnoxiously aggressive nor extremely well-funded as their theologically hostile competition. It's a literal Holy War, and the Jihad against Perl, requires an actual Crusade. Rewrite the thing in Perl. Make it better and confidently assert your superiority. Dominate the battlefield.
