That's an easy one because pos(...) has always been a part of Perl 5. That line in perlfunc.pod listing it hasn't been changed in 29 years. The commit it showed up in was the first version officially called "perl 5.000". I wasn't around but it wouldn't surprise me if it was in previous incarnations of perl as well.
