in thread Dark Mode for AM?

"Newest Nodes and Recently Active Threads keep track of that automatically for you; you shouldn't have to manage that yourself."

That's not been my experience; I have had to manage it manually. Do I need to adjust one or more settings somewhere for this to be automatic?

"How are you doing that? You shouldn't need to explicitly log out and in again."

I don't log in and out. Say I'm logged in using www.perlmonks.org, here's two common methods I use (with Firefox):

"... via the Domain Nodelet."

I've seen that in the past; it used to appear automatically; I never used it. I now see it's an opt-in via "Nodelet Settings". But thanks anyway for pointing it out.

I don't think so. I am curious why it's not working for you. Works flawlessly for me; and I haven't heard anyone complaining of issues.

I don't log in and out ... Duplicate Tab, then change org to net ...

Ah. Well, the Domain Nodelet makes that a snap; no address editing necessary. Just open the 'net' link (in the Domain Nodelet) in new tab. Done.

Re Newest Nodes and Recently Active Threads, I'm not going to stay away for a few days just to test that. :-) However, I will try to remember to monitor the situation when that next happens and report back.

Re Domain Nodelet, I've enabled that. Links from there only retain the node_id=nnnn part of the query string; for example, with https://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=6364;user=861371 in the address bar, the Domain Nodelet shows links to http://www.perlmonks.com/index.pl?node_id=6364, http://perlmonks.com/index.pl?node_id=6364 and so on.

Yes, that's true. That's the one weakness. Hopefully you don't encounter that situation too often. I know I run into it occasionally, and have to edit the URL. For example, when I read your node above, I was on .com, where I'm logged in as erzuuli; I hit 'Reply'; then decided I wanted to reply as me, so I edited the URL. But that situation is generally pretty easy to avoid, for the most part.
