"Perl 6 is a great language, but sometimes the enthusiasts talk about the crazy, scary things you can do with it."

I can do crazy, scary things in Perl5. Also, C/C++, Assembly and several other programming languages.

But seriously, if Perl6 really has gotten past the roadblocks, then great. Still, I am concerned about the misperception of it being very old news.

I understand the concern. However, I hear constantly about how Perl5 is very old news. I hear about it being obsolete, crufty, read-only, broken, ill-designed, ill-maintained, irrelevant, and tortuous. Then I smile, write some Perl, and collect my pay like any other day. I don't doubt Perl6 can withstand some criticism and still be found useful by folks who want to do actual work rather than proselytize.	[reply]

Would not be surprized if the same was said about Perl5 acolytes back in 1993/4.	[reply]
