As a possibly interesting side note, just today a patch was submitted to P5P making FATAL warnings officially discouraged, due to multiple issues with them.

David Golden isn't exactly a late coming prima donna, been on CPAN since 14-Jan-2003 discouraged/Discouragement of perl features which have caveats (aren't 100% bug free) is still the stupidest thing that happened to perl	[reply]
