m00se has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Gday, I am trying to extract return codes upon instantiating a penguin trivial client object and then running it. My code is as follows:
$penguinclient = new Penguin::Trivial::Client Code => $codetosend, Host => $host, Port => $port, Password => $password, Title => $title, Name => $name; undef $blah; $blah = $penguinclient->run();
$blah always seems to '1', whether it fails or succeeds...and this is most unhelpful to the cause... Any ideas/suggestions/criticisms would be most appreciated.
thanks, m00se

    I've never used the Penguin modules, but I remember reading The Penguin Module which made it sound like it had fallen out of favor, and isn't currently being maintained.

      Yeah thanks Blake - I saw that earlier but was hoping that someone could shed some light...I'm sort of at the point of no return - t'would be folly to turn and recode with a different module...ugh. I have some ideas but they're all hacks and want to see if there is some viable solution here - can't find any docs on PENGUIN either...
