in thread Perl 5, Python, Rakudo, C/C++, Java, Lua?

My post was amusing and identifiable. The anonymous one was neither. Perl6 is fun. It’s a peculiar thing in human beings that what others do in their free time, hurting no one, can be such a source of irritation, even moral outrage, for some persons.

Update: How many times you gonna silently rewrite your post? Two rewrites so far… I love and use Perl5 every single day. I apologize that being interested in Perl6 offends you. I’ll try to tone down my rhetoric. I know how out of control I get when I’m on off-brand coffee products. Goddamn robusta, every time.

I don't like Perl6 as a language. I don't agree with most of the changes from Perl, I don't like the syntax of the new stuff. That's not the important thing though! If Perl6 was started and advertised as a test project that might eventually become a successor of Perl and named accordingly, it might not get the initial level of interest, but IMNSHO it would not be met with hostility after it failed to deliver. And sorry, the benchmarks are yet another proof that it still hadn't delivered.

I'm sure it's fun for those with free time and I'm absolutely fine with that!

Excellent. I am sorry if I smeared you in the repartee. I don’t see Perl6 as a successor at all, just another language that is enough unlike Java and friends to still perhaps be in my mental sweet spot. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone yet but I have enjoyed playing around with it and I think it’s wonderful that a lot of persons with more brains and tuits in the area have put so much time and consideration into it.

I'm late to this festive little fistfight, but...

I find Perl6 to be interesting. And for right now, that's all.

I find Perl5 to be functional and useful, but I don't get paid to write ANY version of Perl.

I find Java and Groovy to be silly and annoying in various ways, but I get paid to write them.

And so ends my non-useful contribution to this thread.

Wh..what?! We resemble that robusta remark! Robusta beans are smaller and rounder in shape, making them easily superior for nasal inhalation. Acquired taste, remember!

Your Turkish micro-tonal performance aside, I insist you cease posting anonymously, tye. Insist it!
