I guess they got a proxy.

As a first hint in a hurry: Please see Using CPAN with a proxy as well as http_proxy for further inspiration. Note: Using ActiveState Perl one needs to set the http_proxy environment variable to solve this issue but I don't how it's with Strawberry.

its still just perl, and env vars are still just env vars ... portableshell.bat ... vienv - Edit local environment variables on Win32 ... whatever	[reply]

"...env vars are still just env vars..." Sure, no doubt. But do you know if Strawberry cares about `http_proxy` - as ActiveState does? As i wrote in fairness: I don't know it. I haven't looked into that specifically, but the more recent releases of Strawberry Perl includes App::cpanminus. So someone could easily put a copy of portable Strawberry Perl and a minicpan onto a USB drive, which would let you use Perl on any Windows system and use cpanm to install any needed additional modules. Going that route, there is no need for a network connection or needing to deal proxy settings or even needing to "install" Perl.	[reply]

ActiveState and Strawberry are still just perl -- they don't care about "http_proxy" specifically CPAN/PPM/LWP... might care, but they always care regardless of what flavor of perl you're using https://metacpan.org/pod/CPAN#WORKING-WITH-CPAN.pm-BEHIND-FIREWALLS	[reply]
