I might use some of Anatomical terms of location as I'm familiar with many of them for various reasons and they serve a similar purpose in giving precise language for talking about position relative to the body you are discussing regardless of that body's orientation or the relative position of you or the others you are addressing. Even those with nearly no experience with anatomical study are likely to be at least somewhat familiar with terms like "anterior", "posterior", and even "dorsal".
