I think the comment to which you reply is self-explanatory. This Anonymonk, probably easily identified from phrasing of opinion, feels that the monastery is being destroyed by “tolerance” of off-topic, lower-value posts. I disagree on the value of the monastery and the reasons of the arguable decline and I hate all post-cops whether it’s PC or not-Perl-enough or whatever but I understand the point.
What I don’t understand is why an obviously excellent Perl hacker would choose to participate here positively with a named account except for when it’s time to take swipes at others… it’s an unproductive let down and barrier to possible virtual friendships and good professional networking.
