If your repository is in ~/.cpan then why not move the directory to ~/.cpan.old and try to download again?

That's a good idea. I'm not going to try it, though, because I switched to using plenv, carton, and mcpan instead. My work environment is not CPAN-friendly. Should I delete this quiestion (entire node), or leave it up, because people have tried to answer?

No, no, no, don’t delete anything! The only valid reasons for deleting a node are (1) because it’s an (accidental) duplicate, or (2) because it was posted to the wrong thread (and even then it would be better to request one of the janitors to move it to the correct location).

You can always update your own nodes, but you should never delete any significant content. When you need to make a change, mark it clearly as an Update and use strikeout on anything you want to remove. See How do I change/delete my post?

        Hope that helps,
